KEFRAMA COLLEGE

Organization Description:

KEFRAMA College is a community based secondary school, dedicated to working with children/students, their families and communities to overcome illiteracy, poverty and injustice.

Inspired by Christian values, we are dedicated to working with the community's most vulnerable families and/or children/students.

We serve all people regardless of religion, political affiliation or gender.
KEFRAMA College operate in Barr sub-county majorly, working with the natives of the sub-county. KEFRAMA College is dedicated to working with children/Students, their families and community leaders, regardless of religion, or gender, to overcome illiteracy, poverty and injustice.
Keframa College is a project managed by Mr. Augustine Kezzy Okello and it was initiated by Barr sub-county community members in partnership with Lango Youth Action For Development (LAYAD).

The project aimed to tackle one of the many problems that affect members of this community.

This area is mainly rural and families face a lot of difficulties to allow their children obtain basic education. Literacy rate is very low.

Even though there is one government aided secondary school in Barr sub-county, it has not supported it with adequate infrastructure and teachers. Many families are not able to send their children to school due to the looming poverty level in this area.

Community members wish to put up a structure which will guarantee free education for the most needy and low cost fees for poor families to create jobs and become self sufficient.

Keframa College would like to attempt to bridge the gap between rich and poor by offering good quality education for the most poor.

The college will benefit children from Barr sub-county and children from other neighbouring sub-counties of Aloi, Omoro, Apala, Amugu, Abako, Adekokwok and Amach and those from the surrounding subregions.
We are committed to giving vulnerable children and students access to basic education through the following:

Establishing of sound teaching mechanism at our college
Providing free education to those whose guardians/families are not able to afford school fees charged in many schools
We offer free counseling to our students and their parents/guardians and students
We provide health education to our students and their guardians
Transformational development is the process through which children/students, their families and communities identify and overcome the obstacles that prevent them from living life in all its fullness.

KEFRAMA College partners with communities to improve lives.

Through these partnerships, communities access the knowledge needed to improve the well-being of children and overcome illiteracy.

KEFRAMA College provides free access to education tailored to helping bridge the gat between the literates and non literates so that communities are better able to reduce the level of poverty in different homesteads.

By allowing community members send their children to our college, we ensure that the process of positive change can be experienced and lives changed as well as safeguarding society from possible bad characters and reducing the level of instabilities in families.
Living as an orphan is usually associated with too many difficulties. The situation becomes worse when one looses both parents, either due to war or HIV/AIDS.

Many children begin to room streets in towns, causing alot of problems to the general population as many of them turn into thieves.

Many of such children have been killed in the streets of Lira town as they try to steal things inorder to survive.

Education is something that has become history to such children and there are usually not many helping hands since some people take many of them are hard to love due to their bad behaviours.

Even when some people offer to take care of such orphans, many times they are mistreated and even not sent to school.

Costa apio, one of the total orphans is a victim of circumstance-she lost both of her parents to the deadly HIV virus and they were only left in the hands of guadians who seem not to be caring.

Costa had to sit home for more than a year because the person who was taking care of her and her twin sister and two younger brother could not give the support needed. a school volunteered and she was able to finish ordinary level education.

She could no longer continue with studies as she had to start taking care of her younger brothers and the twin sister.

A good samaritan helped pay for her to join nursery teachers' college. She now earns 80.000 Uganda shillings which she uses to take care of her sisters' education and her two brothers-however,the 80.000shs is not even enough as she has to provide food and accommodation as well.

Children like these are quite many and suffering, sometimes unnoticed. As a community,we feel it is our duty to give a helping hand to such hurting children.

We were able to link costa to an institution that decided to offer her partial scholarship so she might do a diploma course. However, her two brothers and sister continue to suffer with no one to pay their education.

KEFRAMA College wants to come into existance so that it can try to identify and help those it can,by providing free secondary school education and also giving scholarstic materials to those hurting children who are still in primary schools.

If you feel you can make a contribution to this noble course and to help Costa and her twin sister and two brothers and other children like them, please, donate.

Just $2 will be able to buy one dozen of exercise books for a child in primary school-if you want to sponsor a child of help build KEFRAMA College so that we might better help huting children obtain secondary school education, contact us or donate directly.
