Joni and Friends Florida
Who we are:
Joni and Friends is a Christian non-profit organization that exists to help meet the spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical needs of individuals and families affected by disabilities through various programs, activities, and support services. The South Florida office is the local arm of the overall ministry staffed by Doug and Leanne Goddard, who work with a local development board and faithful volunteers to facilitate the accomplishment of these goals within the region.
What we do:
Through the Roof: We provide churches interested in raising disability awareness within their congregations and starting disability ministries training, support, and resources.
Family Retreats: Each summer we put together a 5-day/4-night camp where people with disabilities and their families find rest, training, support, counsel, encouragement, and recreation. Through this program we also offer short-term missions opportunities for churches.
Special Delivery: With the assistance of local volunteers we minister to people with disabilities that are hospitalized, homebound, or institutionalized by providing gift packages of inspirational materials.
Wheels for the World: We collect used non-motorized wheelchairs and medical equipment which are then restored and transported to countries all over the world.
Fishing with Friends: For those who love God's great outdoors and fishing, we provide ‚?Fish Grant‚? opportunities to fish with local and professional anglers on the water, as well as support for a variety of fishing events and activities.
Why we do it:
All people are created by God and, in turn, have inherent value whether physically or mentally disabled or totally able-bodied. Jesus illustrated this in Luke 14 with a mandate to care for those who are disabled. Specifically, verses 21 through 23 command us as Christians to reach out to these folks and bring them to God's house so they can share in His feast.
To communicate the Gospel and equip Christ honoring churches worldwide to evangelize and disciple people affected by disabilities.
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is on God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by Whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
