UNION GOSPEL MISSION

Organization Description:

"Restoring Hope - "Restoring Lives"

Salem's Union Gospel Mission was founded in 1953 as a Christian ministry in Marion County, State of Oregon.

UGM offers assistance, hope and a new way to live to the needy, homeless, addicted and overwhelmed.

As UGM offers nourishing meals, shelter, showers, clothing and food boxes to the needy and troubled, it provides an opportunity to reach many for their greater needs. Through our life-changing adult education and life-skill programs, Bible studies and the rehabilitation aspects of our New Life Program, once-lost lives are overcoming to live victoriously.

It's Board of Directors is composed of men and women from all over the Willamette Valley.

Voluntary community support is essential, in order for us to reach, mentor and aid the thousands who come to us each year.

Mission Statement:

Our Mission Statement:

A Christ centered ministry demonstrating God's love by meeting physical, mental and spiritual needs of men, women and children in crisis. Proclaiming the Gospel of Christ in word and deed.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

We Believe:

1. That the entire Bible is God's Holy Word; inspired by the Holy Spirit (2 Tim 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21) and that God's Word is fully applicable today.

2. We believe that man's sin, beginning with Adam, brings separation from God and therefore death to all (Rom 3:23, 5:12, 6:23) and that all who do not become born anew (born again), by that choice continue to separate themselves from God and His promised hope.

3. We believe tht Jesus was born of a virgin and that He gave His life on the cross; tht He knew no sin, toook upon himself sin for all of us; that He was buried, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and will return. (John 5:39; 2 Cor 5:21; 1 Cor 15:4; Acts 2:9-11).

4. We believe that through faith (trust) in Christ we are saved by God's grace (not by works), and that all who repent and accept Jesus Christ as Savior (all who ask him to be their Savior), become a new creation (Eph 2:8-9; John 1:12; 2 Cor 5:17, John 14:17).

5. We believe the power of death is kept from those who put their trust in Christ, and that He will dwell with the Saints forever. (John 14:3, Rev 20:6, 14, 15:22:1-5)

6. We believe that through sharing, ministering and bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to others, that defeated, blinded and lost lives will find victory and fellowhsip with him forever.

7. We believe that God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are One God; that though they are Three, they are One (2Cor 13:14, ACts 1:4-8).
