The Fundamentals of Sketching Curriculum (John Tallacksen 07-08)
Member Name: John Tallacksen
Service Site: First EV Free
Site Location: Los Angeles, CA
Project Description:
John's year-long replicable project is a very detailed 11-week curriculum with focus on drawing and sketching. This is an 11-week course where a class will meet once a week for 45 minutes to an hour. Each week's lesson plan is designed to inspire and inform students on how to express themselves through art.
As John decribes: "the fundamentals of sketching are critical to most forms of art. Drawing fundamentals are also the most practical and inexpensive to teach. The intention here is to warm the students up to the processes of creating art without overwhelming them or losing their interest. Af the completion of this course, the students will be prepared for more expensive and traditional classes on the creative processes of other art forms"
John's handbook also includes:
- a supply list to aid with lesson planning
- brief lessons on art history and famous artists
- lesson overviews and learning objectives for each lesson
