Urban Compass
We currently hold an after-school program at 112th Street Elementary in Watts, Los Angeles, every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (2:30pm-4:30pm) as well as several weekend and daytime activities. We want our tutors to become an educational resource for our students as well as provide stable mentor relationships. Urban Compass was formed in partnership with two organizations that have been dedicated to the South Los Angeles community for over 50 years combined. Verbum Dei High School and LA City Camp have worked tirelessly over the years to provide hope for LA City kids. Our efforts build on their success by complimenting their services with a full range of programs for K-8th grade children living in the community. Together we strive to provide a continuum of stability and support for these kids that will safely usher them from kindergarten into college.
Urban Compass provides a safe, welcoming, and innovative environment that challenges our youth to envision and navigate a course for a rewarding future characterized by achievement, independent thought, and social responsibility through education, mentoring, and play.
