Bridge Builders for Kids

Organization Description:

Bridge Builders for Kids is a Christian mentoring program for children with incarcerated parents between the ages of 5 and 12. We partner with other organizations to support the incarcerated parent and the child's caregiver. We serve children all over the metro area as well as in Rochester.
Our hope is that by increasing the amount of positive, ono-on-one time children have with a loving, Christian adult we will help them to overcome obstacles and realize their God-given potential.

Mission Statement:

Bridge Builders for Kids is a Christian mentoring organization whose vision is to end second-generational incarceration by connecting children of prisoners and their families to a loving network that will encourage and inspire them to achieve their God-given potential. Bridge Builders for Kids equips adult mentors with the training and support they need to be a positive, stable and meaningful friend. By allowing a child to be a part of your everyday activities, life skills are learned and life-enhancing friendships are built.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

Bridge Builders for Kids believes:

1. That the Bible is God?s inspired and authoritative word without error.

2. That there is one God who exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3. That Jesus is both man and God. He is God?s initiative of Grace toward us. He was born of a virgin and led a sinless life. He performed miracles. He died on the cross for our sins. He rose from the dead. He has gone to be with the Father. He will return in power and glory someday.

4. That the Holy Spirit lives in Christians, enabling them to live a Godly life.

5. That all people are created in God?s image. That although all people have sinned and fall short of God?s glory, God made salvation possible through the death on the cross and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through repentance and faith we are born spiritually.
