First Steps

Organization Description: 

First Steps purchases specially-developed VitaCow and VitaGoat machines, large pressure-cookers that can process soybeans into soymilk. Each machine can produce enough soymilk daily for up to 2,000 kids. Currently, we have 17 VitaCows and 10 VitaGoats in operation at various sites, providing a daily cup of soymilk for over 60,000 children in orphanages, daycares and kindergartens.

n 2007, First Steps initiated distribution of the acclaimed micro-nutrient Sprinkles to 72,000 receipients, including 35,000 infants and toddlers, as well as to 37,000 pregnant and nursing women in co-operation with North Korea's Institute of Child Nutrition
