Life Connections Program
Overview of the USP Leavenworth, Life Connections Program: The program combines the best of several approaches to reducing recidivism. First it is a residential program that houses all the participants together. They develop into a community of men of faith working to change their lives. This living arrangement produces mutual accountability to live up to the standards of their faith. Second the program lasts for eighteen months giving the men time to incorporate the positive changes into habits. Third the LCP brings in mentors and spiritual guides from the community to work in small groups and one on one with the participants. This give the men people of their faith and culture that serve as models of how to live a life of integrity and faith on the street. Fourth, once the participants release from prison, the LCP provides mentors and the support of the faith group in their release community. Fifth, as a faith based program the LCP undergirds all its teachings with guidance from the faith of the participant. There are nine different faith groups represented in the current LCP participants.
Mission Statement of the USP Leavenworth, Life Connections Program (LCP): To increase spiritual growth and decrease recidivism.
