For Love of Children (FLOC)
For Love of Children (FLOC) is a 501(c)(3), community-based nonprofit organization in Washington, DC. Since 1965, FLOC has created innovative programs that address the needs of our city’s most vulnerable children and families. For Love of Children's mission is to give young children and high-risk youth the opportunity to succeed through a continuum of educational services that will prepare them with the skills necessary to become life-long learners and contributing members of their communities. Through example and partnership, For Love of Children will use education to empower young people and their families to close society's advantage gap and break the cycle of poverty.
For Love of Children operates two programs that allow students to improve their educational skills and transform their lives. The Neighborhood Tutoring Program (NTP) provides one-on-one tutoring, and uses structured back-to-basics curricula to allow 1st through 12th grade students to become grade-level competent in reading and math. The Scholars Program provides workshops and other activities to empower middle school and high school students to develop strong academic habits and life skills, and to engage in community service.
For Love of Children (FLOC) provides free educational services beyond the classroom to help low-income students succeed from first grade through college and career. We bring together students, volunteers, families, and community partners in proven programs that teach, empower, and transform.
