Journey Performing Arts Center

Organization Description:

Journey Performing Arts Center was founded in January 2004. A dancer all her life, Journey’s Founder and Artistic Director Samara Michelle, M Ed., wanted to create a safe place where children can have access to life skills education through different performing arts programs. Journey is funded by a number of local and national organizations, including the Fulton County Arts Council, the Lighthouse Foundation, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, National Endowment of the Arts and Wachovia Bank. Supported by both paid staff and a working Board of Directors, Journey seeks to expand its reach to Atlantans looking for quality arts programming and education. Journey serves the entire Atlanta community through its programming held at the studio as well as outreach classes and performances held throughout the city. Adults and children alike benefit from Journey’s dance, drama and music classes as well as an in-house artists incubator program, after school program, summer camp and professional dance company.
