SPES

Organization Description:

St Patrick’s Evangelisation School (SPES) is a 9-month course, forming young adults (20-30 years old) in the Catholic faith. We are based in the centre of London, England, at the parish of St Patrick’s in Soho – an area poor in spirit. The young people based in the parish bring hope to the surrounding community by the many different ministries they are engaged with, including outreach on the streets and on their own front door-step.

Mission Statement:

St PatrickÂ’s Evangelisation School (SPES) was set up in 2002 to provide an opportunity for young people to respond more effectively to Pope John Paul IIÂ’s call to form disciples for the New Evangelisation. It aims to give young people the opportunity to : 1.Deepen their understanding of GodÂ’s vocation for them and to respond more generously to the needs of Church

2.Be formed in the Spiritual life through the daily pattern of Holy Mass, Adoration, Rosary and Divine Office, Spiritual Direction, community life, a regular programme of retreats,

3.Increase their understanding of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and a readiness to give an account of the hope that is in them.

4.Provide outreach to the poor and marginalised so that they may know the privilege of touching the Body of Christ.

5.Take part in Street Evangelisation and other missionary work on a regular basis.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

SPES is a Catholic programme and the life of the school is based on four pillars – Spiritual Formation, Academic Formation, Community Living and Missionary Outreach. Together these four pillars help to build a balanced programme where each student has the opportunity for personal development and spiritual growth, allowing them time to grow closer to the Lord, deepen ones faith, to become more knowledgeable in the Church’s teachings along with discovering about themselves and learning about others.
