Orphanages for Africa-International
Orphanages for Africa-International commenced in the U.S.A. in October 2005 with faith, prayer and a $100.00 donation. OFA-Canada was founded in 2007 and OFA-U.K. in 2008. Our ministry role model is George Muller who cared for orphans in 19th century England through faith and prayer alone without ever engaging in any fund raising events. Mr. Muller?s primary goal was to glorify God and show others that there is a personal God who hears and answers prayer.
OFA, OFA-Canada, and OFA-UK are Christian humanitarian and development organizations committed to meeting the basic needs of millions of orphaned and abandoned children across the African continent. Our three charities currently partner with 6 orphanage ministries in 4 African countries: Kenya, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Zambia.
Our primary goal is to provide a hand-up out of poverty through micro-enterprise grants and humanitarian assistance. Business grants enable our partners to help their own ministries to African orphans. The children learn valuable employment skills rather than the dependency which handouts create. OFA, OFA-Canada, and OFA-UK have funded businesses in goat and poultry farming, operating a grist mill and are just starting to provide funding for a mobile phone talk time business. Profits are used to provide for school fees, school uniforms and food for the children.
Humanitarian assistance is provided through our Child Sponsorship Program (CSP). This program connects individuals and families around the world with orphaned children being cared for by our partner organizations in Africa. Limited though this is, the resulting funds are providing food to feed all of the children in these partners? ministries 2-3 meals a day.
