Advancing Vibrant Communities
Advancing Vibrant Communities (AVC) was founded in 2002 to help churches connect their servants with opportunities to "wash the feet of the city". AVC researches and legitimizes needs, and then connects volunteers with those opportunities to serve. AVC's Daily Update Page (www.vibrantcommunities.org/daily.htm) and our email blasts to volunteers are the most effective tools we have to reach volunteers quickly with real-time needs.
Volunteers perform many different services, including transport to medical/kidney dialysis appointments, minor home repairs, wheelchair and utility ramp installation, grab bar and safety equipment installation for the elderly or disabled, donating furniture and appliances to needy families and/or single parents, painting out gang graffiti.
What we do NOT do!
AVC does not give out cash, and volunteers are not asked to move people (as in a moving company), due to injury potentials.
Advancing Vibrant Communities (AVC) connects volunteers from local churches with opportunities to serve the needs of their neighbors and community in response to Jesus' commands to love God with our whole being and to "love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:29).
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ's command to love God with our whole being and to love our neighbors as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40) applies to all believers, and is the core motivation for AVC's mission and existence.
