Advocates for Community Transformation

Organization Description:

Our vision is for Dallas citizens to experience and be empowered by the transforming presence of Jesus Christ through safer more stable neighborhoods, free from crime and urban blight.

We desire to facilitate opportunities for volunteer lawyers and community members to pursue a greater quality of life in each of the neighborhoods we target, ensuring a better future for each community currently suffering from the oppression of crime and urban blight. We believe that Dallas residents have a right to live in neighborhoods free from such injustice, and that Christian service includes the pursuit of justice.

Our hope is that each identified crime-ridden or abandoned, derelict property is reclaimed for the neighborhoods ACT serves by bringing a sense of urgency to offending property owners to clean up their property themselves or be faced with legal action. It is ACT's intent to go about this work in a way that fosters community development and, ultimately, brings about God’s redemptive plan to this earth.

Mission Statement:

ACT is founded on Christ's challenge to pursue justice on behalf of the oppressed. Our mission can be summarized as follows: By representing inner-city residents and mobilizing volunteer lawyers, ACT supports the ongoing efforts of community leaders and the City of Dallas to hold the owners of crime-ridden houses and abandoned properties accountable.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. We believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.
