Alabama State Health Insurance Assistance Program

Organization Description: 

SHIP is the only confidential, one-on-one Medicare beneficiary counseling in the state of Alabama and is one of the many programs provided through the Area Agency on Aging at the Jefferson County Office of Senior Citizens Services. The program exists to provide FREE education and unbiased counseling to Medicare beneficiaries regarding their Medicare benefits. SHIP also provides information on prescription assistance programs, long-term care payments and options, healthcare rights and protections, fraud and abuse, claims, and low-income assistance programs.
