Areas of Interest Description: 

AmeriCorps State provides grants to governor-appointed State commissions and local and National nonprofit organizations
to help those organizations meet critical needs in education, public safety, public health, homeland security and the
environment. AmeriCorps member activities include direct services such as tutoring, mentoring, housing construction, and
the provision of healthcare; or assisting with capacity building activities such as volunteer recruitment and management.
Organizations that receive an AmeriCorps grant recruit and select their own members.
