Arthritis Research Institute of America
ARIA was founded in 1984 in Clearwater, Florida. Our aims are to identify the major risk factors for the development of osteoarthritis and to identify risk factors related to the increase in severity of osteoarthritis through time. Osteoarthritis is the most prevalent chronic joint condition in both the United States and throughout the world, and may account for more disability among the elderly than any other disease. There is still relatively little known regarding the etiology, natural history, and therapeutic efficacies associated with the disease. Through our clinical exams, x-rays, and historical information, to date we have collected extensive data on over 3500 men and women aged 40 years and older.
Our institute alone fills a unique osteoarthritis research niche. Serial x-rays, clinical exams, and historical information are updated every 2 years. Such information uniquely affords our institute the ability to identify the rate of OA progression. As the baby-boomer generation ages, it is assured that research in this arena will benefit many.
With the help of volunteers, such as your clients, we are entering all the data collected over the years into our database. This allows our scientist to evaluate the data and write papers to share with the medical community.
To find cause and cure for Osteoarthritis.
