The Artic Mission

Organization Description:

We are primarily a ministry that tries to reach out to the "under-resourced" people in Rhode island. We run a clothing, small household and baby item program called The Giving Room. Everything is given away along with the love of Christ. We lend baby cribs, car seats, etc. to mothers in need and follow up through home visitations to see how they are doing with our things and that gives us a chance to develop relationships and witness or disciple.

We do reach out to people with addictions in a limited extent due to the limited amount of volunteers.

Additionally we run a Christian Coffeehouse that is open to anyone.

Mission Statement:

THE ARTIC MISSION, INC.

Mission Statement

THE ARTIC MISSION, INC. has been created to serve the Lord by reaching out to the lost, the poor, the hungry and the homeless (Matthew 25:32-46), unifying His Church (John 17:20-23), and encouraging other believers (Hebrews 10:24-25).

- The lost will be witnessed to on the streets, and during outreach ministries at THE ARTIC MISSION ministries. We believe it is very important to follow up with the people we witness to. We are trying to do this by offering a time of fellowship (to build relationships), by offering a very basic, scriptural presentation of the Gospel message, and by having a time for prayer requests. These people will then be referred to the local churches that are on board, in some way, with THE ARTIC MISSION, INC.

- THE ARTIC MISSION, INC. will serve as a haven for those who are hungry, lonely, and feeling unloved and unwanted. This is a place where God's love needs to be shown, especially to those who, in our humanness, are hard to love. We are praying for God to provide people who He knows have a special heart for this ministry.

The church body will be unified, and believers will be encouraged and uplifted through fellowshipping and working together in the various ministries of THE ARTIC MISSION, INC., such as THE GIVING ROOM, the coffeehouse (THE UPPER ROOM), youth activities, college and career activities, various outreaches, and other activities as God leads. We hope to encourage the local churches to participate together in these ministries. We believe that working together for Him is a wonderful way to bring unity to His Church.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

THE ARTIC MISSION, INC.

Statement of Beliefs

THE ARTIC MISSION, INC. believes the following to be true:

- We believe the Bible to be the only inspired, and authoritative Word of God.
- We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ; in His virgin birth; in His sinless life; in His miracles; in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood; in His bodily resurrection; in His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and in His personal return in power and glory.
- We believe in the creation, test, and fall of mankind, as recorded in Genesis, and mankind's total spiritual depravity and inability to attain right standing before God by self-effort.
- We believe that salvation is not by good works, but by God's grace through faith alone, in perfect and sufficient work of Christ on the cross, by which we obtain right standing with God, forgiveness of sins, and eternal life. We believe that salvation is a gift from God. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by Whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. We further believe His power and gifts are available to believers today.
- We believe that spiritual growth is a progressive, lifetime work of grace in the believer towards Christlikeness.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
- We believe that baptism in water by immersion is a direct commandment of our Lord for believers as an outward expression of the believer's identification with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Although water baptism is not essential for salvation, it is powerful demonstration of a living faith.
- We believe in the table of the Lord, commonly called Communion, or the Lord's Supper, as a regular practice prescribed by the Scriptures. The bread represents Christ's broken body, and the cup symbolizes the New Covenant as ratified by the blood of Jesus.
- We believe that there is one true universal Church, made up of genuine believers and composed of many local churches under the sovereign headship of the Lord Jesus Christ, exercising autonomous government under Him in the administration of all it's local affairs and ministry.
