Bethesda Lutheran Communities
Since 1904, our mission has been to enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through services that share the good news of Jesus Christ. Bethesda relies on the income generated by our 23 thrift shops to help provide funding. We provide services and education to approximately 2000 developmentally and intellectually disabled clients across the United States. One-hundred percent of the net profits from our thrift stores go directly to the people Bethesda supports. In 2007, the shops provided $1.3 million in revenue that helped pay for unfunded services such as specially-built wheelchairs, dentures, supplies for feeding tubes and for Christian education and spiritual nurture for the men, women and children served by Bethesda around the country.
