City Care's Whiz Kids

Organization Description: 

Whiz Kids is a faith-based, one-on-one volunteer tutoring/mentoring program that focuses on first through eighth grade students who live in areas which have some of the highest drop-out rates and lowest socioeconomic levels in Oklahoma City. Whiz Kids is proactive and preventative in nature, targeting inner-city schools and students who are reading below grade level and who could benefit most from a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult.

The mission of City CareÂ’s Whiz Kids is to improve the well-being of inner-city youth through academic tutoring and positive mentoring relationships and through communicating spiritual and moral values.

Organizational Statement of Faith: 

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God. He was born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life on earth. He was crucified, dead and buried. On the third day He rose from the dead. He ascended into Heaven where he sits on His throne with His Father, God, and He will return again.
