Community Based Initiative for Rural Development

Organization Description:

Community Based Initiative for Rural Development (CBIRD) is an emerging Ugandan charity working with isolated rural communities to achieve empowerment through education. We work in the district of Masaka in Western Uganda to improve the educational prospects for communities who live in isolated rural settings where only inadequate educational facilities are available. CBIRD helps to build the futures of these disadvantaged communities through infrastructure improvement projects, provisional of scholastic materials, training of staff and parents and a food security programme, amongst other projects. Through these activities, CBIRD hopes to tackle the root causes of poverty, break the cycle of rural isolation and associated issues for future generations, and empower these communities through education.
