Community Response Initiatives

Organization Description:

BRIEF HISTORY
CORI started in 2003 as a branch of Friends Committed to Caring (FCC), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Toronto, Canada. FCC Canada brought out teams of Canadian and American volunteers on short medical missions. During these mission tours to Zambia the volunteers were also accorded an opportunity to view tourist attractions in Zambia (especially the mighty Victoria Falls and the National Parks).

By 2005, the programme grew to an extent where it required to be managed professionally. This is when the Zambian volunteers who always accompanied their Canadian counterparts on medical tours formed and registered CORI.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

ORGANIZATIONAL STATEMENT OF FAITH:
We believe in, and live by God the father almighty, maker of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ, his son, our lord who was conceived by the Holy Ghost through the word of God and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified dead and buried. He descended into hell and stripped Satan off his power. Upon the third day he rose again and ascended into heaven where he is seated at the right hand of God the father almighty.

We believe in the Holy Ghost, the worldwide body of Christ (the church), the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, the communion of the saints, and life everlasting. We believe that through a daily profession of the faith and trust in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, his death, burial, resurrection, and ascension; one may become a partaker of their inheritance in him.
