Compeer

Organization Description:

Compeer Inc. is an international, non-profit organization that helps adults and children overcome the devastating effects of mental illness, such as loneliness, low self-esteem and isolation, through friendship. Our volunteer-based programs and services provide supportive friendships for people in mental-health care.

Volunteers serve as positive role models, as they help raise self-esteem, help reduce the feeling of loneliness and isolation, increase social and communication skills, and encourage independence for their Compeer friend.

Founded in 1972, Compeer has provided over 35 years of friendship to adolescents and adults diagnosed with mental illness.
