Conroe Family YMCA Leap of Faith
Leap of Faith is dedicated to serving riders with disabilities. Each horse, therapist and volunteer provides physical, mental and social therapies that help our riders expand their range of their abilities and encourages them to "pick up the reins of life".
Therapeutic riding helps clients with visual and hearing impairments, Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health Concerns, Mental Retardation, Multiple Sclerosis, Spina Bifida, and Traumatic Brain Injuries.
Riding a horse can be an enormously liberating experience for people with disabilities. Astride this large and powerful animal, a therapeutic rider experiences a new sense of mobility and control. People who are often very dependent on others find independence, self-confidence, and self-esteem.
Program Goals: Leap of Faith instructors cater lessons plans and activities based on the needs and attributes of each rider. These are planned to accomplish the goals for the following areas:
YMCA Mission: To put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit mind and body for all.
The YMCA strives to turn no one away due to the inability to pay.
