Consistent Life
We are an international network uniting many organizations and individuals who support the consistent ethic of reverence for life. Our work is spreading the consistent ethic vision throughout the community, our nation and the world. Our main work is educational, helping people understand the links among the various life issues.
We do engage in specific campaigns when our focus may be of particular value. For example, we organized amicus briefs gaining the signature of a wide variety of groups in the case of Scheidler v NOW in which we won a Supreme Court victory protecting the right of peaceful public witness on abortion. We are currently involved in a campaign to persuade Amnesty International not to take a position that abortion is s human right.
Consistent Life has established a research arm, the Institute for Integrated Social Analysis (IISA). The purpose of IISA is to increase the quantity and quality of research on matters pertaining to the consistent life ethic and the connections between issues of violence from abortion and euthanasia to the death penalty and war.
We are committed to the protection of life, which is threatened in today's world by war, abortion, poverty, racism, capital punishment and euthanasia. We believe that these issues are linked under a 'consistent ethic of life'. We challenge those working on all or some of these issues to maintain a cooperative spirit of peace, reconciliation, and respect in protecting the unprotected.
