Disciples of Christ Outreach to Inmates

Organization Description:

D. O. C. Outreach empowers men and women behind the prison walls to empower one another in the truth and freedom of Jesus Christ by mentoring men/women who will carry the light of Christ into areas where there may be no fellowship, Bible Studies, prayer groups. Men/women who will plant seeds for God to nurture and grow. Men/women whose walk is so attractive that others want what they have.

Through personal correspondence we counsel them to build relationships and assist them in ministry and seed planting.

The D. O. C. Deliverer (newsletter) is a vehicle which provides an opportunity to keep those friendships tight. We encourage our members to maintain bonds between brothers and sisters.

We encourage members to create an environment of fellowship within the walls among those who believe and want to grow in their faith. Men and women who pray and study together develop a feeling of worth and belonging that is vital to a strong walk in Christ.

We encourage members to have a finger on the pulse of what is happening with the spread of the Gospel in the prisons all over the state; to gather together those who will listen to the Word – carry the torch – represent Jesus – plant seeds – demonstrate His love, accept and forgive those you reach out to in His love.

Mission Statement:

It is our intention to encourage and sustain people in the penal system who are willing to change their lives; those who want to put to death the ‘old man’ and live anew under the blood of Christ. It’s true that most wouldn’t be in the system if they were walking in righteousness. We offer ourselves as servants of God to show these children of the Father an alternative to another prison sentence.
Our purpose is to facilitate their walk with Christ while they are in prison.
We have been given a vision of hope for the hopeless, life for the dead in spirit, and love for those who are loveless. We come to you, as a faithful servants, and ask for your prayers and support of this ministry. There is a huge harvest ready to be reaped and Disciples of Christ Outreach to Inmates is ready to join in the bountiful harvesting of souls! We have all been called to give witness

Isaiah 61: 1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good tidings to the afflicted; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 Timothy 1:8 therefore, do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me, his prisoner, but share with me in the suffering for the gospel according to the power of God.

We offer ourselves as His servants for all those who have never known His love, His joy, and His peace! He will bring them life and more abundantly.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, ultimately authoritative Word of God.
We believe there is one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is Deity, that HE was born of a virgin, that we are redeemed by HIS atoning death through HIS shed blood, that HE bodily resurrected and ascended into heaven, and that HE will come again in power and great glory.
We believe that individuals are saved through a direct, personal encounter with the risen Lord, at which time they are regenerated by the Holy Spirit. This event we hold to be an experience, rather than a doctrinal supposition.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whom Christ indwells each believer enabling him or her to live a Godly life of obedience as he or she reaches for maturity.
We believe the Holy Spirit unites all true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and that together they form one body, the CHURCH.
