The Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia (DSANV) is a 501c3 organization of more than 900 members representing the thousands of individuals across Northern Virginia who have Down syndrome. We have become a trusted resource for these individuals, their families and friends, educators, employers, legislators, and the medical community. We engage a strong board of directors and a broad base of volunteer and financial support in achieving our mission to ensure that all individuals with Down syndrome and their families receive the support necessary to participate in, contribute to and achieve fulfillment of life in their community.
The mission of this organization shall be to ensure that all individuals with Down syndrome and their families receive the support necessary to participate in, contribute to and achieve fulfillment of life in their community.
1.Help families adjust to the birth of a child with Down syndrome;
2.Provide individuals with Down syndrome and their families with educational, financial, medical, legal and social support and resources;
3.Provide social and educational events for individuals with Down syndrome and their families to meet, interact and learn;
4.Increase community awareness of the capabilities and contributions of individuals with Down syndrome;
5.Provide financial support to families in need with donations of durable medical equipment, educational toys and similar items;
6.Support local organizations that provide services to individuals with Down syndrome.
