Family Development Ministries Uganda
Family Development Ministries is a non profit making Organization focusing on the holistic family development. We started as small project in 2005 in the district of Kayunga with focus on empowering and enabling the living and learning process of the needy school children and February 2009 incorporated as a company to carry out charity business. Through all our work, we seek to create permanent solutions to rural family problems by working towards a systemic change in the educational, economic, social, spiritual and cultural dynamics. We therefore work towards ensuring a just, equitable, sustainable society by putting our efforts on programs and projects that ensure the physical and emotional health of the rural families and hence improving the quality of human life. since we started through our Early Childhood Education enhancement project, we have been in position to support children and families with basic learning requirements where items such as exercise book, pens, pencils, mathematical sets, personal effects, and medical care have been given to the lees privileged several home visits to children as a follow up to evaluate their performance and wellbeing. Over the years Home and school visits have been the most rewarding time to our work and at the same time so devastating seeing and hearing from kids how life is treating them.

Dear Friend, Welcome to Family Development Ministries.
Introduction Background: Family Development Ministries is a non profit making Organization focusing on the holistic family development. We started as small project in 2004 in the district of Kayunga with focus on empowering and enabling the living and learning process of the needy school children and February 2009 incorporated as a company limited by guarantee.
Volunteering opportunity: Realizing that our children, their families and the local community could benefit much from overseas Volunteers if they are directly involved into our work. By sparing their time to come and spend it with us to share their life experience and culture. We are responding by creating an opportunity for both local and overseas volunteers and visitors into our programs. We look towards more to long-term placements of many of the volunteers.
However, any one considering volunteering at Family Development Ministries should understand that we are not in a position to pay for volunteer services, either directly or in-kind. In other words, we are only able to work with individuals and groups that are able to financially support themselves. We shall take full responsibility of planning and making all the necessary arrangements for our Visitors and Volunteers to ensure their safe stay while with us, right from receiving them at the Airport, briefing and orienting them into our programs, accommodation arrangements, giving safety guidelines and necessary advice relating to their wellbeing.
Any interested group or person should contact us to learn about our current needs and get to know his or her area of interest for proper placement and planning purposes.
All interested volunteers must schedule an orientation session two weeks before beginning their work. Our most need is for Nurses to do community health care outreach, tutors in carpentry, plumbering, and skilled woodshop tradesmen to help us with several other engagements with the community youths. We are also in need of volunteers, with a professional legal practice to help us establish ourselves in the US, particularly someone familiar with California business regulations.
Our Volunteers are to help us in many of our activity days, such as ChildrenÂs Activity days, Feeding days, Home and School Visits, outreaches to Hospitals and Health centers, rural community services, Children centers, Business Management and training skills, Small groups formation, Capacity building for projects and Youth related Activities.
