Floresta USA, INC.

Organization Description:

Floresta (www.floresta.org), is a non-denominational Christian charity that helps rural farmers break the cycle of poverty by stopping the deforestation that destroys the land, robbing farmers of their livelihood. Floresta addresses the root causes of a region’s severe poverty with its programs of community development, innovative agriculture, reforestation, and micro credit. To date, they have planted more than 3.5 million trees and helped poor farmers in 120 villages throughout Mexico, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Tanzania and Thailand. In addition to planting trees, the group has revitalized thousands of small farms, and made over 3,500 small business loans, bringing empowerment and hope to thousands.

Mission Statement:

Floresta, a Christian nonprofit organization, reverses deforestation and poverty in the world, by transforming the lives of the rural poor.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

Discipleship occurs through the long-term relationships that are formed as the Floresta staff works with community leaders. The good news of Jesus is woven into much of what we do, but through the process of discipleship, people grow in their faith and become servant leaders in their communities.
We take what the Bible teaches and help them apply it to daily life.
