Ft. Hood Area Habitat for Humanity
Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individuals, corporate donors, churches, businesses and civic organizations provide money and materials to build Habitat homes. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - 'sweat equity' - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their zero interest mortgage payments go into the Habitat program to help build more homes.
The Fort Hood Area HFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization that builds decent affordable homes for low-income families that currently live in substandard housing. The homes are then sold to those families at no profit and with no interest charged.
