Generations Incorporated
Generations Incorporated delivers intergenerational literacy programs to the children of Greater Boston. We are an affiliate of AARP Experience Corps, a national program that engages senior citizens as literacy tutors in public school settings.
We are Greater Boston’s host to AARP Experience Corps, and as such, we are one of the largest and most effective programs in the country. Nearly 300 AARP Experience Corps members currently serve with Generations Incorporated, and in 2011, they provided more than 50,000 volunteer hours of tutoring to 2,600 students.
Generations Incorporated unites older adults and youth in partnership to strengthen individuals and communities. As BostonÂ’s host to the nationally recognized Experience Corps program, we provide high impact intergenerational literacy intervention services to thousands of young children in grades kindergarten through Grade 3 in Boston, Revere, and Chelsea. We are able to provide these services through a large, highly trained corps of older adults who have time, talent, and a desire for meaningful service to their community.
“Generations Incorporated has built a bridge that brings together our youngest learners and the wisdom and love of grandparents, retirees, and interested citizens.” — Dr. Carol R. Johnson, Superintendent of the Boston Public Schools
