Good Shepherd Volunteers
Our volunteers live in community with each other and work at various social services agencies and non-profits affiliated with the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. Ministries include youth programs, fair trade, teaching, educational support, after-school programs, casework, and women's advocacy.
We have service placements in Los Angeles, New York, and New Jersey. The term of service is 1 year, lasting from August through July each year.
GSV provides housing, food stipend, living stipend, transportation, and health insurance to all volunteers.
Volunteers are eligible to receive an Americorps Educational Award Program grant of $4700 upon their completion of a year of service.
GSV provides a week-long orientation at the beginning of the year, as well as several retreats and other events throughout the year to provide volunteers with opportunities for reflection, professional development, and learning.
