Hartford City Mission
Hartford City Mission (HCM) is dedicated to transforming the spiritual, educational and social fabric of the North End of Hartford. HCM demonstrates the love of Jesus in practical, sustainable ways that offer the community HOPE through the empowering gospel of Gods grace and truth. This faith-based, non-profit is driven to identify and recognize existing positive characteristics in the neighborhood that can be used to develop or enhance the community as a whole. This approach, reflecting the human dignity and values inherent in any neighborhood, is often referred to as Asset Based Community Development (ABCD). Executive Director Tom Kubiak leads this vibrant organization of more than 75 volunteers, with seven (7) full time and part time staff. Together they are developing the next generation of indigenous leaders in the North End who will advocate for peace, justice and goodness in their own community.
SHARE the Good News. . . of Christ and His Kingdom, glorifying Him in words and actions. HCM currently partners with other north end ministries to provide assistance for physical needs including food, shelter, education, job assistance, and economic and housing development activities. DEVELOP Disciples. . . fully devoted followers of Christ who are growing more into His likeness. CONNECT Christians. . . from a variety of geographic, economic, or racial backgrounds to serve in relevant, life-changing urban ministries, thus experiencing Christ in a unique manner, and in turn becoming more fully devoted followers of Him. TRANSFORM Communities. . .we want Gods will as its done in heaven to be done down here in Hartford. So as Christ finds new homes in more and more hearts of Hartford residents we will work to expand the impact of HCM as an agent of justice and peace in our community, striving for: reductions in crime; improvements in education; less poverty; more jobs; fewer boarded up buildings; and more block parties. The goal of the prophet Nehemiah was to rebuild & revive the whole city of Jerusalem our vision is no less for Hartford. May God's kingdom values like goodness, joy, justice and peace become more evident for His glory.
We believe that the Bible is the Word of Godfully inspired and without errorwritten under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons: God the Father, God the SonJesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe in Jesus Christ, Gods one and only Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, crucifixion, resurrection from the dead and ascension into heaven.
We believe God created man and woman in His image that He might have fellowship with us. Being estranged from God by our disobedience and rebellion, we areas sinful people by natureincapable of having a right relationship with God apart from divine grace.
We believe that the only Mediator between God and human beings is Jesus Christ the Lord. A persons only hope of spiritual reconciliation and redemption is by repentance of sin and faith alone (not religious works) in Christ alone to be ones Lord (King) and Savior. We receive this spiritual understanding, conviction of sin, regenerating life and sealed hope through God the Holy Spirit.
We believe that genuine salvation in Jesus Christ will produce a transformed life so others will see the Gospel of grace in our lives and, in turn, glorify (worship) God the Father in heaven.
We believe in the Christian church and that God has given all Christ-followers the tasks of sharing the Gospel of Gods grace to a spiritually lost world and worshiping our Creator-Redeemer Lord.
