Haven of Peace Academy

Organization Description:

Haven of Peace Academy (HOPAC) is a Christian, international, K-12 school with 309 students from 33 different countries. One third of our students are Tanzanian, one third are children of missionaries and one third are children of non-profit and for-profit workers.

HOPAC is situated on a 14 acre campus on a hillside overlooking the Indian Ocean north of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The majority of HOPAC teachers are missionaries who are spiritually supported and sent by either a sending mission or home church. HOPAC pays a monthly living allowance that covers housing costs and the teacher raises funds to cover other living expenses as well as airfare and health insurance. HOPAC secures all necessary work and residence permits and covers the costs of these permits. HOPAC also offers free spots for teacher children at HOPAC. This system of compensation allows HOPAC to keep its school fees at a level that is affordable for missionary kids and Tanzanians alike while at the same time providing an excellent education that results in our graduates being accepted in and being granted scholarships from top universities around the world.

Mission Statement:

To provide an excellent, Christ-centred international education that meets western academic standards and equips students to live out a biblical worldview in all areas of life to the glory of God.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

Statement of Faith

1. We believe in the verbal plenary inspiration of the Bible, its inerrancy in the original
documents, and its supreme authority in faith, life and doctrine.
2. We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
3. We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who, in the fullness of time, was begotten by the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary, thereby taking upon Himself human nature and becoming God-man so that lost men might be redeemed through His substitutionary death and shed blood.
4. We believe in the bodily resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ.
5. We believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature; that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God?s grace and through faith alone we are saved.
6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
8. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
