Helping Hats of Indianapolis
Helping Hats was formed in 2008 when two friends wanted to use their love for crafts and their love for God to help the people of Indianapolis. Helping Hats partners with Indianapolis charities to provide hats, scarves, and blankets to those in need. Our volunteers spend their summer months crocheting and knitting hats and scarves that are distributed by homeless shelters and community centers in the fall and winter. In the fall and winter months, our volunteers make blankets for donation to local hospitals. We are open to working with any organization that has a need they believe we can fill.
After each volunteer completes an item, they take time to pray for the person that will receive that item, and the organization that is ministering to that person. We do this not only to provide for the physical needs of those in need, but also to show them the love of Christ. This is our way of putting our faith into action and living James 2:15--17:
Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
