Highlands County Habitat for Humanity, Inc.
Highlands County Habitat for Humanity is working to build affordable housing for lower income families in the Highlands County area. These families have income levels which do not exceed 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Highlands County Habitat for Humanity is the mortgage holder and services the loans at 0% interest for those who do not qualify for traditional lending.
Homeowners must have steady income and agree to partner with Habitat by working 400 hours of sweat equity towards their home. This allows Habiat to help the community by improving families' living conditions and building relationships that cross lines of race, religion and economic status.
It is the goal of Highlands County Habitat for Humanity to build a "green," affordable housing community called Mason's Ridge. By June, 2011, Habitat plans to build and have occupied twenty (20) single family residential homes in this community. A second phase of the community will then commence and will include as many as 39 more homes.
We are a volunteer organization. Anyone willing to give of their time is welcome.
Highlands County Habitat for Humanity is a Christian organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing, homelessness and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action.
