HIMserve

Organization Description:

HIMserve's vision is to see communities being holistically transformed through the church living out the power of the Gospel comes from the fact that in our target areas in North Bengal, India. Over 90% of churches and 60% of mission groups are focusing only on evangelism and church planting. The people's need to be discipled, their physical needs and prevailing social problems both within the church and their local communities is grossly neglecting. In fact, the predominant belief is that the church's responsibility is confined to just the spiritual needs of people. The spiritual need has clearly been separated from social, physical and emotional needs. Trying to motivate believers to share the gospel not only in words but also in deeds has often been like hitting a wall. But we in HIMserve are convinced that this is the church's mandate from scripture and such churches are definitely the need of the hour for the communities in North Bengal. Our overall strategy is one where we would like to work in the background and have the church in the foreground. We are convinced that the church should play a leadership role in its community. We work in partnership with churches that express a genuine desire to learn more about and live out the church's God given mandate to practice holistic mission. We organize wholistic mission teaching for the church leaders of followed by the baseline survey and spiritual leadership trainings. We want to see the church become increasingly relevant to the rest of the community in which it belongs and live out its mandate to be salt and light in this world. We want to see the church members as well as the community in which they live in benefit spiritually, economically, socially and emotionally. What we desire is that when the people of the wider community benefit in any way, it should be seen as having come through the initiative and efforts of the church, not HIMserve.

Mission Statement:

The role in realising the vision is to help the church to broaden its ministry, from being one of purely meeting the spiritual needs of the community, to also addressing its physical, social and economic needs. Hence we endeavour to envision, empower and develop the capacity of motivated and committed men and women, to present and demonstrate the gospel through example, word and deed. We want to see these men and women become agents of change in their respective communities among the Nepali speaking people groups in North Bengal, INDIA.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

We believe that the Holy Bible to be divinely revealed and breathed out by God. It is entirely trustworthy, the only supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
We believe that there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, born of a Virgin, the only incarnation of God, in His life which was without sin, in His miracles, in His death which, through His shed blood, cleanses us from the penalty of sin for all those who trust in Him alone, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of God the Father and in His personal return in power and glory.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful human beings, new birth in and by the Holy Spirit is essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling followers of Christ are enabled to live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; that they are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of eternal judgment for all those who have not trusted in God ‚’s salvation.
We believe in the spiritual unity of all the followers of Christ.
