H.I.S. BridgeBuilders - Boston

Organization Description:

H.I.S. BridgeBuilders partnered with Hope Fellowship Church in the fall of 2004 to expand upon the Kingdom building outreach offered to the residents of the greater Boston community.
Located centrally near the campuses of Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), BridgeBuilders Boston draws upon the talents and skills of the academic world to serve those in need and the burgeoning international population of the city.
ESL Classes
One in four of Boston residents are foreign born men and women. A third of these individuals either lack a high school education or the basic English skills necessary to compete in our city's complex job market. BridgeBuilders Boston offers ESL classes (basic, intermediate and advanced sub-classes), bible studies and social activities for international residents who are interested in improving their English comprehension, pronunciation and vocabulary.
Allston “Good News Bible Club”
BridgeBuilders Boston offers a weekly “Good News Bible Club” to Allston area youth. The club offers intensive bible study, fellowship and service opportunities for young people interested in being disciples of Jesus Christ and serving their community.
Starlight Homeless Outreach
Starlight Ministries, a non-profit under the Emmanuel Gospel Center’s banner, has been serving the Boston homeless population for the last 15 years by offering food, clothing, biblical counsel and a variety of other necessary resources. Starting in September 2005, Hope / BridgeBuilders has been working with Starlight by preparing meals for over 40 people for their weekly Thursday evening outreach to the homeless of Harvard Square. Our volunteers meet Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM for a time of prayer and devotion focused on serving the needs of the poor. Afterwards, they work together to make the food which is later picked up by Starlight staff.
Outreach Events:
We also offer annual outreach events, such as:
• Back 2 School Festival (August)
• Community Arts Festival (April)
• Day Camps (Spring and Summer)
• Community Block Parties
