Hope Gospel Mission

Organization Description:

Men’s Shelter: A 40-bed facility designed to provide food, clothing, and shelter for single, homeless men. Medical, dental, and optical care is also available through the shelter’s referrals.

Ruth House Women’s Shelter: This 12-bed facility is designed to provide food, clothing and shelter for single, homeless women. Services are similar to the Men’s Shelter. Ruth House opened in the fall of 2005.

Both shelters host three programs: an emergency shelter, a "helps" program and the Renewed Hope program.

Emergency Shelter- Designed to help the homeless get off the streets in emergency situations. Residents are also evaluated for candidacy in other programs.

Helps Program- Not all residents need long term help. A percentage have a plan to get back on their feet, but need help to get there. Our new Helps Program works with residents to meet their goals and prevent a long-term homeless situation.

Renewed Hope - The components of this program are designed to equip the residents with the resources necessary to become independent and contributing members of society.

Mission Statement:

Our purpose is to help the poor and homeless by showing them the love of Christ through:

1. Meeting their basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, medical and dental care, etc.).
2. Requiring them to work and pay their own way while at the mission.
3. Providing a sanctified and nurturing atmosphere for them while at the mission.
4. Making available to them the necessary life skills and training to successfully live on their own.
5. Sharing with them the Gospel of Jesus Christ and encouraging those who want to change using Biblical principles. We are not a church or para-church organization, therefore the local church will perform this function.
6. Not enabling them to stay poor by making them dependent on us.
7. Not taking any government funding.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

Statement of Beliefs

We believe in the verbal, plenary, inspiration of the Bible. We believe His word to be infallible and inerrant, our supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
We believe in one true God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, Sovereign over all, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in God the Son, God manifest in flesh, our Lord Jesus Christ, the world’s only Savior. We believe in His pre-incarnate existence, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His vicarious death, His burial and bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His present mediatorial ministry, His imminent personal return in power and glory.
We believe in God the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin, regenerates all believers, indwells them, and enables to live holy lives of witness to our Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe in the sinfulness of mankind. We believe that man is born separated from God and is subject to His eternal wrath and condemnation.
We believe in the eternal salvation of every one who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ. This salvation is provided freely by God’s grace through the shed , the sacrificial , and the bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. This salvation is not by our own works but is evidenced by good works once obtained.
We believe in the eternal security of the believer. We believe that once a person is saved, he/she can never lose their salvation.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the : believers to the full enjoyment of eternal life in heaven; unbelievers to the full condemnation of eternal in hell.
We believe in the local church and the importance of it in edifying and equipping the believer for the work of the ministry. Every believer should be a part of a local church, serve within and be accountable to it.
