Housing Greensboro

Organization Description:

Housing Greensboro exists in response to a need that was identified by the community and confirmed by the City of Greensboro with its 2005-2009 Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan.

They found:

* 5,580 owner households with incomes less than 50% of Area Median Income (AMI)
* 3,356 households experience some housing problem
* High priority need for repairs to homes owned by elderly and low-income families
* Need for at least 150 basic/emergency repairs during the 2005-2009 performance period

Housing Greensboro's response has been to repair over 100 homes during this time and rehab 6 homes for resale back to low-income homeowners. In September of 2008 the Board of Directors adopted a comprehensive vision to support our mission with new programs to serve homeowner education and more minor home repair needs in our community. We are excited about our past history and excited about what the future holds as we continue to engage volunteers and receive the financial support from our community to pursue our mission which changes lives.
