Kupu

Organization Description:

Kupu is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Kupu’s staff has been coordinating the Hawaii Youth Conservation Corps (HYCC) since 2001. The HYCC program provides nearly 300 positions yearly for youth across the state of Hawaii through its four programs. Each program is focused on environmental conservation. Kupu provides both Year round and summer programs. The Year Round interns (ages18-30) are funded through AmeriCorps, a federal program that provide citizens the opportunity to give back to local communities much like the Peace Corps. Summer program members are for youth between the ages of 15-21 and Team leaders are 21 years and over.

Over the last decade Kupu has created many partnerships with environmental conservation agencies across the state. In 2010 Kupu worked with nearly 80 different partner organizations.
