La Vida Inc

Organization Description:

La Vida, Inc. is an independent non-profit organization established in 1996 to serve the needs of the Hispanic population for the Greater Boston Area. La Vida designs projects that depend on active participation by members of Latino community in and around Boston, as well as significant grassroots leadership. A priority for each project is to have a positive impact on as many Latino families as possible.
La Vida Youth Enrichment Services "YES" program was established in January 2002 to provide after-school services to the Latino population. La Vida "Y.E.S." has been running successfully and now provides its services to 40 middle school students and 25 high school students in Lynn. Our program runs with the help of volunteers from the community and from area colleges. La Vida "YES" provides a safe and secure environment for our students as well as the care and support from staff. Through its Youth Enrichment Services (YES) in Lynn, La Vida has provided middle school and high school aged Latino youth with opportunities that teach them to become active agents of change in their communities.
The program would not be successful without our youth, who return year after year, and new students who enroll in the program. In the long term we see success as former youth graduate high school. Graduating from high school is already an achievement for our youth; in the last school year 92% of our enrolled youth moved on to the next grade. Our greatest achievement is witnessing how our older youth return to the program as volunteers.
