Lafayette Habitat for Humanity

Organization Description:

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

We select our partner families on the basis of need, willingness to partner, and ability to pay. Our families incomes range from 30% to 60% of the area median income. The families, along with volunteers, build the homes. Once the homes are completed the partner family purchases the home at- cost and interest free. The monthly mortgage note then goes back into the program and is "recycled" to help us build more homes for families in need!
