Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service
LIRS provides new hope and new life through refugee resettlement; assistance and foster care for unaccompanied minor children; family reunification; and supportive services such as language, housing and employment assistance to those who flee to the United States for safety and freedom. We also serve those who are here as permanent residents and need help with legal issues or the steps to citizenship. We encourage congregations of all denominations to co-sponsor refugees by extending the hand of friendship and welcome, providing cultural orientation, food, clothing, household goods, transportation and financial assistance to new Americans.
