ManeWaves Therapeutic Riding Center
ManeWaves Therapeutic Riding Center incorporated as a non-profit organization and was granted 501 (c)(3) Charitable Organization status in 2009. Our center does far more than teach a person with a disability how to ride a horse. Our center offers a variety of equine activities and therapies designed to meet the diverse needs of our clients. Our center offers companionship, responsibility, leadership, vocational, and educational skills to individuals of all ages through our therapeutic riding program.
Equine assisted activities are beneficial to children and adults who present with a wide range of cognitive, physical, developmental, psychiatric and emotional conditions. Therapeutic riding can improve balance, coordination, focus, independence, confidence, motor and social skills. Riding a horse provides a unique and often profound experience for our clients. The student who interacts with their horse may extend this experience to others and increase meaningful relationships with people. The trust and loyalty of an animal demonstrates to the student how important and accepted they are; the student may learn to extend these attributes to personal relationships. Riding helps to empower people with special needs. The nature of horses creates a real-life environment in which students will be able to confront fears and make adjustments to situations beyond their control.
We are committed to the growth of individuals with special needs and their families by embracing them in a world of soft hands, caring hearts, and healing horses.
