Mendenhall Ministries

Organization Description:

Since the turbulent 60‚’s The Mendenhall Ministries (TMM) has been a light on a hill for the poor & disenfranchised.

TMM was founded in 1962 in response to the appalling conditions faced by the poor black community in this rural Mississippi area. The vision attracted many concerned people, and grew into a ministry known for providing progressive local leadership within the community to address problems of poor housing, segregated and unequal education, lack of employment opportunities, and lack of capital-trapping institutions within the black community. In recognition of a job well done, former President George W. Bush presented TMM with the number 541 'Daily Point of Light' Award in 1991.

An outreach of Mendenhall Bible Church, TMM‚’s mission is to evangelize rural poor families through addressing their spiritual and physical needs holistically and to facilitate reconciliation in the body of Christ.

The success stories and lessons learned from TMM‚’s early ministry work provided a foundation for the Christian community development movement.
