Mercy and Truth Medical Missions

Organization Description:

From West Africa to East Asia, Mercy & Truth is serving the world?s most needy communities. Get involved in one of our volunteer teams and make a difference.

Missions is the primary and foundational purpose of Mercy & Truth Medical Missions. Mercy and Truth has been sending medical teams consisting of both professional and non-professional persons since 1995. These teams of volunteers provide medical care in developing countries lacking adequate medical provisions for their population. The teams deliver medical care in the form of community health, out-patient care clinics, and professional and educational lectures. Teams seek to work in collaboration with indigenous medical professionals. These outreaches are conducted with the cooperation and approval of the local church, government, and other organizations whenever possible.

Mercy & Truth sends out medical teams throughout the year. Each outreach lasts 10 to 14 days. Team size is dependent upon on the number of interested participants, the needs that will be addressed, and the requests of host country missionaries. The Field Director oversees the implementation of international outreaches.

Mercy & Truth international medical teams serve in a clinic setting. Clinics are usually established in a public building such as a church or government building. Each health care provider is given an area in which to work and perform his or her duties. Patients with illnesses are treated in privacy and with confidentiality. If patients have severe or life threatening illness, they are assisted in finding care at the nearest medical facility or hospital. After seeing a health care professional, patients are escorted, if they desire, to the spiritual counseling area, and then on to the pharmacy. The Gospel is shared with everyone who is interested.
