Misericordia Home
The volunteer may live in community with adults with developmental disabilities and would assist the residents in the daily functioning of the home, with particular emphasis on supporting activities of daily living (i.e. meal prep, personal care needs, etc) and community involvement of the residents. The volunteer may attend day programming with the residents. Depending on the desire of the volunteer, some placements may include direct care on the evening shift. Volunteers are guaranteed two weekends away from placement monthly, week long Summer and Christmas Breaks. Participation in volunteer community is an essential aspect of placement-includes opportunities for retreats, weekly dinners, weekly reflections, spiritual direction, etc.
Misericordia Home supports individuals with developmental disabilities in maximizing their level of independence and self-determination within an environment that fosters spirituality, dignity, respect and enhancement of quality of life. We promote development of natural family and community support, community awareness, education and advocacy.
