New Horizons Ministries

Organization Description:

New Horizons Ministries began in 1978 in response to the growing number of homeless adolescents living on the streets of Seattle. What started as a program of street outreach has evolved over the years into an entire continuum of care, with an emphasis on relationship building.

The staff of New Horizons, both paid and volunteer, establish relationships with youth through street outreach as well as by providing meals, clothing, and other emergency services. New Horizons also provides case management, relational counseling, recreational activities, job mentoring, life discovery classes, and a comprehensive referral system. All of these services are designed to equip youth with the life skills, confidence, and sense of community that are vital for them to successfully exit street life.

Mission Statement:

New Horizons Ministries is a multi-cultural organization whose mission is to be in relationship with homeless and street-involved young people, serving and loving in the way of Jesus, equipping them to leave street life.

Organizational Statement of Faith:

STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe in one God, Creator and Lord of the Universe, the co-eternal Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ, God's Son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary and lived a sinless life. He died on the cross, removing our guilt and reconciling us to God. He rose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven where He is the only mediator between God and man.

We believe that all Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, that the believer may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

We believe all people are made in the image of God, yet are sinners, and are incapable of returning to God apart from grace. Salvation is through faith in Christ alone.

We believe in one holy, universal and apostolic Church, which is called to worship God, preach the Gospel, make disciples, promote righteousness and justice, and relieve human need.

We believe the Holy Spirit persuades us to repent of our sins, renews our hearts, and causes the Church and its people to grow in Christian maturity.

We believe that Christ will return to raise the dead, judge all people and establish His glorious Kingdom.
