Rural Women Development and Health Initiative (RUWDHI)

Rural Women Development and Health Initiative (RUWDHI) is a community based organization registered with the Registrar Generals Department of Ghana with registration number GA-24,129. Social Welfare of Ghana Registration number DSW/3901, an affiliate member with the Association of Non-Governmental Organizations in Central Region (ANCER), International Peace Commission and the International Council of CCLP World Wide of USA.

It is non partisan, non governmental and non-profit making organisation founded in the year 2002 to put our resource together to improve the social-economic and health well being of marginalized people especially women and children who live in the rural areas of Ghana.

Besides, the organization is committed to improving the knowledge, skills and abilities of the youth for national social- economic development. The organization also protects the rights of disadvantaged and needy children in low income areas and the urban centers through the provision of psychological, educational, social and economic support systems.


Our Vision

The avowed vision for Rural Women Development and Health initiative (RUWDHI) is to create a long term conducive environment for full empowerment for rural women in Ghana.


Our Mission

To provide efficient and sustainable social and economic resource to reduce poverty among rural women through the provision of;

* Technology transfer
* Business management training
* Micro credit support
* Reproductive and health management
* Sustainable management of environmental resources


Aims and Objectives

* To assist rural women entrepreneurs to have access to appropriate and improved technology.


* To provide entrepreneurship and business management training for local women entrepreneurs.

* To provide working capital base for rural women entrepreneurs through the provision of micro credit.

* To provide training in reproductive and primary health care management skills

* To provide psychological, educational, social and economic resources for poor and needy children.

* To train the youth in entrepreneurship, leadership, communication and time management skills.

* To promote community based vocational and employable skills training service.

* To promote community ICT training.

* To provide the most affordable and beneficial volunteer placement for rural communities.

* To advocate and promote the rights of women against negative cultural practice and to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality levels.

* To provide training on sustainable management of environmental resource.


How we work

The organization believes that there are still capable and potential people in the local communities who just need the required support and resources to make it to the top. With our international volunteer placement programs, the organization in consultation with the various leaders of the local communities are made to come up with their various needs. However, with our volunteers, materials and technicalities we help them to achieve their goals.
